Driver Comfort and Gender Inequality Measured with DHMs

Comfort is a subjective measure of how well motor vehicles accommodate the population. With Digital Human Models (DHMs) as drivers, comfort can be objectively evaluated on 10-point scale with dimensions that accommodation body size and back posture in seat support, controls reach, lines sight. In this study, authors describe measured DHMs production vehicles. The analysis 42 reveals scores by are unequal for small females (7.0) large males (8.25) when compared to medium-sized (8.95). also reveal varies posture. Given sexual dimorphism size, not accommodated vehicle interiors larger males, design contributes inequality effects cushion length pedal reach head restraint position eye driving.
